A Few of my Favourite Things in.. April 2014

  1. Rayban New Wayfarers (Prescription) - Because I don't wear contact lenses, driving with eyeglasses and then having to cover them with sunglasses while driving can be quite frustrating. I was finally able to get around to purchasing a pair of prescription sunglasses and I've been obsessed with them ever since!
  2. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette - I've been reaching for this palette all month because it's been convenient having a setting powder, highlight powder and light bronzer all in one palette. These powders are finely milled and give off a naturally "lit from within" glow to the skin. The packaging makes it convenient for travel and while the powders are a bit smaller than a full size compact, I can definitely see this palette lasting quite a while.
  3. Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey Cologne - I've been interested in checking out Jo Malone's fragrances for a while and was finally able to get a couple samples to try out. I've been loving this fragrance because while it's still a fruity smell, it isn't as sweet as past scents I've used and it isn't an overwhelming fragrance either. I'm definitely tempted to invest in a bigger bottle.. which can't be good for my pockets!
  4. E.L.F. Complexion Studio Brush - This brush has always been a favourite of mine for bronzer. Lately I've been using it with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette because its size fits well with the size of the powders. It's become a multi-purpose brush because I can use it to set my foundation and because it's tapered at the top I can use it for highlighting. It's also fluffy enough to use for an overall bronze.
  5. NARS Orgasm Blush - No matter how many blushes I have, I always find myself going back to this one. I know it's a cult favourite but I can see why. It's universally flattering and matches up really well with a variety of different looks. It also acts a blush and highlight in one because of the gold micro shimmer infused into the blush. Clearly.. I love it!
  6. Milani Nude Creme Lipstick - While the smell can be a tad overwhelming, I am able to look past it because I love the colour. This is one of the first pinky nude shades I've come across that isn't too sheer and doesn't require a lip pencil for it to look good against my skin tone. It's also has a really creamy and opaque formulation that doesn't make my lips peel. These specific lipsticks have been well received since their launch and they definitely deserve their praises!

A Few of My Favourite Things in.. January 2014

1. NARS Deep Throat Blush - Don't let the name throw you off.. This is a light peachy pink blush with subtle shimmer that gives your cheeks the perfect amount of flush as if you've just gotten back from being outside in the ongoing polar vortex

2. Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer - Received as a mini sample with my Ambient Lighting Palette, this primer has quickly become a favourite of mine that I've actually gone out and purchased the travel size one (partly because you only need a little, and partly because the full size is super expensive).. It makes your foundation apply nice and smooth and I find myself having to blot away oils less..

3. MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer in NW25 - I got this in a bag of makeup from Christmas and I forgot how much lighter it felt to use liquid concealer over cream concealer under the eyes.. It has a light/medium coverage and is good for days when you're in a hurry..

4. Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle - The Revlon lip butters are among one of my favourite drugstore lipsticks and Pink Truffle has been a great "my lips but better" shade that I'd throw on for everyday wear.. I love the natural rosy pink shade it transfers on my lips and it's quite moisturizing as well..

6. MAC Liquid Eye Liner in Boot Black - While I'm not the biggest fan of the applicator, when I use a MAC 209 or the Real Techniques liner brush, the product is great.. It's a true matte black..

REVIEW: NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder

I picked up the Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder during Sephora's 20% off Friends and Family Sale a few weeks ago and have been using it since. Here are my thoughts on it.

Pros:
- Doesn't look cakey
- Gives a satin finish
- Blurs imperfections
- Prolongs lasting power of foundation
- A little goes a long way (it'll last forever!)

Cons:
- Price $$$
- Messiness from loose powder
- Oil control could be better (however I naturally have an overly oily nose so it could just be me..)

Overall, apart from the messiness of using a loose powder, I've been enjoying it thus far. It hasn't broken me out and I love the finish it gives. I'm just glad I got 20% off it because like all other NARS products, it's quite pricey ($39.00 CDN), however considering you don't need to use a lot, I think you're getting your money's worth of product (10g/0.35oz).
